In August 9 of us went to sing at the Festival du Chant de Marin in Paimpol Brittany, and 10 of us returned as Jo gave birth to a son while we were there. - See a few Photos taken at the festival.

From the 8th to the 11th June we sang at The Gate to Southwell Festival, twice in the beer tent (are we getting typecast?), on stage very effectively miked up by sound engineer Alistair Russell, and hosting a 'big sing' in a marquee.

On Saturday 12th November we celebrated our 5th birthday with plenty of singing during a 3 hour boat trip from Newcastle to Tynemouth and back. We were joined by The Fates and rounded off the day with party at the Cumberland Arms. See lots more Photos taken on the day. On October 28th & 29th we sang at the Spill performing arts festival in Ipswich.

On September 9th, 10th & 11th we sang at Bromyard folk festival, we had five spots and a really good time with appreciative audiences in great voice.

On the 18th & 19th of June we sang at the Falmouth Shanty Festival, even our southernmost member had a nearly 700 mile round trip but it was worth it, an amazing festival where we sang with lovely people at the official venues and in impromptu sessions in pubs. They paid us in beer and pasties too!

We sang at Wardle Folk Festival on the 24th October (& at Rochdale museum)

On Saturday 3rd October we sang at The Liverpool Shanty festival

On Friday 28th August we sang as guests at Jim Mageean’s shanty session in the Endeavour as part of Whitby Folk Week.

On Monday 25th August we sang in The Captain Cook Museum Yard Whitby - with a kangaroo!

On Saturday August 15th we sang at Wainsgate Chapel, Hebden Bridge/Old Town with support from Alice Jones & Phoebe Douthwaite & a little help from a couple of Kimber’s Men.

We launched our CD Spanker Boom while singing in the Shanty Festival at the National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port, Easter week-end.

Had a crackin’ gig at the Central Bar Gateshead at the end of November.

We really enjoyed all the singing at Banbury Folk Festival in mid October.

We had a good sing with lots of lovely people joining us in the choruses at The Barn Baston on the 26th June - read a review of the gig by Toby Woods.

We were very excited to sing at The Young’uns Headland Folk Festival, Hartlepool on the 12th & 13th April.

April 5th most of us (including 3 pairs of sisters!) took advantage of the excellent acoustics in Todmorden Unitarian Chapel as part of Esther & Ruthie’s housewarming celebrations.

February 21st to 23rd - 9 of us braved the North Sea and rocked the Festival Deunen & Deinen (Tunes and Rolling) Enkhuizen Holland.

We had an great week-end on the 16th & 17th November Singing and carousing at The Shakespeare Gibraltar Street, Sheffield.

Our May tourette of ‘places just South of Huddersfield’ included rousing sets at Holmfirth Festival of Folk and Shepley Spring Festival, where we wowed ’em wearing evening dresses in the beer tent on Friday night.

We had an amazing Saturday night in Newcastle on 24th November, when we filled The Cumberland Arms to capacity in a sell out concert: Tea Shanties; An evening with The Teacups & She Shanties

Back in Whitby, where we’d formed the crew a year earlier, we performed three times as part of Whitby Folk Week :

and as guests at Jim Mageean’s shanty session in the Endeavour on Thursday afternoon.

Most of us, She Shanties-lite, had a bit of a sing to a small but discerning audience on Saturday August the 11th at the fairandfunky family fun day in Holmfirth Civic Hall.

Shepley Spring Festival May 26th & 27th was our first festival booking, all four of our spots had the audience in great voice and demanding encores. We were broadcast on local radio too!

Following our fantastic launch at St Mary’s Lighthouse, She Shanties (and guests) raised the rafters on Saturday 28th April at Ruscadors, in Hull.

These photos were taken at our launch gig singin’ and carousin’ in St. Mary’s Lighthouse, stranded by the tide on St. Mary’s Island Whitley Bay for 5 hours on 10th December - went down a storm.
